OUR STORY

Welcome to our site and thank you for visiting!!!. Be sure to check out our Menu and our monthly Lunch Specials. We are located in the heart of Marion on the corner of Hwy 78 & LaVernia St. We are very proud of our "new" building which is 100 years old this year. It was built in 1910 by John Huebinger. It's original business was a Grocery Store and Meat Market. Thru the years it has been a chicken hatchery, a washateria, a barber shop, and an Insurance agency (just to mention a few!). The previous owners, Todd & Londy Byrd did a fantastic job renovating this 100 year old building and we are so happy that they did. Gg's has a charming dine-in area with friendly & efficient servers. There is also a convenient drive thru. Call in your order for faster service as we are not a fast food restaurant! We hope that you will visit us soon!!!

Our Reviews

  • Wonderful food. Wonderful atmosphere. Remember to ask for bread with your meal if you want it. They do not automatically bring it to you anymore.

  • This is a great place for comfort food/homestyle cooking. It’s clean and is decked out with Texas decor - I dig that. The service was a little slow getting started with the menus and drink orders, but then things picked up. Grilled chicken breast was really good and not dry. The bacon cheeseburger was good but they charge extra for the cheese (.59) and the bacon ($1.49). The fries were good at first, but the more I ate, the more they started to taste like catfish. I suspect they’re fried in the same oil as the catfish. I’m sure this is the norm at most places, but you could really taste it here. Despite the issue with the fries, I’m keeping this one on my “go to” list. The rest of the menu looks so good! Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out of.

  • First time dining after driving by it for almost a year. Did not catch the mans name who seated us but was very nice. Ginger was our server and she was awesome. Love the small business and small town. Glad we moved in to rural Marion. New favorite place to eat.

  • This was the 1st time we had been to Gg's since the new owner came in. The food was delicious, with enough leftovers to make a 2nd meal with. The servers were very friendly with the small town feel that you cannot get anywhere else. Update (12/20/2020) They still have amazing food, and great customer service. They had live music, a man playing a guitar and singing songs. The owner asked what kind of music we wanted to hear and he performed some Christmas carols along with some other goodies like George Strait and Merle Haggard.

  • It was amazing.. If you like chicken fried steak, fried green tomatoes, big juicy burgers and homemade pie..the list goes on! We were also so surprised that the inside of the Cafe was so beautiful and charming!! Can't wait to go back!

  • What's not to like about a home town, not chain restaurant. They are nice people that make good food and have good portions da' boot. Today's feast was chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes cream gravy and a side salad. My chicken was cooked perfectly and moist. Our son had chicken strips that were the best he has had in a long time. With homemade sauerkraut and another side. That sauerkraut was the bomb. My wife's fried catfish was plentiful and gone! To top it off we split a piece of chocolate cake. Then to top that off, we purchased a loaf of their bread to take home. Pleasantly full but not weighed down. Time to take a step off of mainstream and enjoy the local place
