OUR STORY

Welcome to our site and thank you for visiting!!!. Be sure to check out our Menu and our monthly Lunch Specials. We are located in the heart of Marion on the corner of Hwy 78 & LaVernia St. We are very proud of our "new" building which is 100 years old this year. It was built in 1910 by John Huebinger. It's original business was a Grocery Store and Meat Market. Thru the years it has been a chicken hatchery, a washateria, a barber shop, and an Insurance agency (just to mention a few!). The previous owners, Todd & Londy Byrd did a fantastic job renovating this 100 year old building and we are so happy that they did. Gg's has a charming dine-in area with friendly & efficient servers. There is also a convenient drive thru. Call in your order for faster service as we are not a fast food restaurant! We hope that you will visit us soon!!!

  • The BEST! Love the small hometown feel of the place, and the food is to die for! The catfish plate is so good! The filets are huge, and the batter is crispy but thin, so you get the best of both worlds 😋 and the homemade bread is amazing! All the servers and staff are excellent, Jessica is our favorite! And the desserts!!! 🤤 They catch your eye when you walk in. So happy to see them open and thriving. It’s become our date night go to place.. thanks again for the chocolate cake Jessica!❤️

  • Meatloaf special was very good and a huge portion! Wife had the grilled chicken with green beans and okra and it was very good also. Took a slice of the chocolate cake home for later and it was very moist! Super friendly wait staff and reasonable prices too!

  • What's not to like about a home town, not chain restaurant. They are nice people that make good food and have good portions da' boot. Today's feast was chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes cream gravy and a side salad. My chicken was cooked perfectly and moist. Our son had chicken strips that were the best he has had in a long time. With homemade sauerkraut and another side. That sauerkraut was the bomb. My wife's fried catfish was plentiful and gone! To top it off we split a piece of chocolate cake. Then to top that off, we purchased a loaf of their bread to take home. Pleasantly full but not weighed down. Time to take a step off of mainstream and enjoy the local place

  • If you've not already checked out this gem in Marion, then you are missing out on one of the best little home-style cooking eating establishments in the San Antonio area. We started off our meal with some onion rings that were cooked to crispy perfection, and then I had the chicken fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. My wife had the cheeseburger and French fries. While the meal was absolutely delicious, the desserts stole the show. We ordered the blueberry fluff and the mandarin pie. Both were very tasty, but the mandarin pie was divine! Our server was also very friendly and attentive! We will DEFINITELY be returning to enjoy more from Gg's!

  • This is a great place for comfort food/homestyle cooking. It’s clean and is decked out with Texas decor - I dig that. The service was a little slow getting started with the menus and drink orders, but then things picked up. Grilled chicken breast was really good and not dry. The bacon cheeseburger was good but they charge extra for the cheese (.59) and the bacon ($1.49). The fries were good at first, but the more I ate, the more they started to taste like catfish. I suspect they’re fried in the same oil as the catfish. I’m sure this is the norm at most places, but you could really taste it here. Despite the issue with the fries, I’m keeping this one on my “go to” list. The rest of the menu looks so good! Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out of.
